We have two vacancies for Graduate Civil engineers to join our team in Meath & the Munster Region.
To perform professional and technical engineering work including plan and development review, contract administration, and design modifications; and to provide technical staff assistance to higher level engineering staff.
Duties will include:
Assist in preparation of design submissions to the client
Creating designs using ArcGIS and submission of designs through ArcGIS (On the job training in GIS provided but proficient use of computer aided design software required)
Maintaining resource schedules
Assist in the management of a training matrix and training schedule for the Contract
Monitor and adhering to works programmes
Maintaining HSEQ standards at all times for all works undertaken
Adhering to Client’s Contract Requirements when undertaking any works
The Ideal Candidate will:
hold (or be in the process of achieving) a relevant Engineering Qualification
have experience with GPS Surveying, Revit and Auto CAD Systems
have experience within a Water/Roads Environment
be willing to travel
hold a Clean Drivers Licence
Roles and Responsibilities:
All Quantity Surveying duties including re-measurement, preparation of monthly progress applications and settlement of final accounts.
Preparation of interim progress applications for payment and internal valuations.
Procurement of subcontractor and specialist supplier’s packages.
Preparation of project procurement schedules.
Interim payments and settlement of subcontractors’ accounts
Negotiate with client’s representatives and other consultants
Advise project management on contractual implications of intended courses of action.
Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects.
Preparation of monthly contract cost reports. (CVR’s)
Identify change and implement change control process and agreement.
Keep management fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise and which could affect the business/project.
Identify project variation and CE’s and notify the client under the conditions of contract.
Prepare project variation submissions and submit to the Client.
Preparation of Estimates
The Ideal Candidate will have:
At least 3 years’ experience in Commercial Management/Quantity Surveying role
A broad knowledge of Public Works contracts
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Good commercial and business acumen and IT literacy
A third level qualification in a construction related discipline; preferably Quantity Surveying
Must be willing to travel
Must hold a clean drivers licence

Ensure compliance with and advise on current Health and Safety Legislation
Increase Health and Safety awareness to management and employees with training techniques and coaching sessions including toolbox talks and Health, Safety and Environmental Inductions

Experience in a Health and Safety Advisory Role within Water/Roads Environment is an advantage

Collect information with GPS and draw up in AutoCAD and ArcGIS for as-built drawings to be submitted to the client
Taking site records (use of Microsoft)
Checking plans, drawings and quantities, be able to read drawings and communicate information to the crews
Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications. - Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project. Liaising with the LA (Meath County Council) & Irish Water.
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
Planning the work and efficiently organising the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
Ordering materials for site activities.
Overseeing quality control and heath and safety matters on site - carry out safety checks on site.
Communicating with members of the public on a daily basis, fulfill role of public liaison officer (take phone calls, close out complaints, arrange with property owners for works to be carried out on their property, etc.)
